Sheriff’s Office Web Check service for background checks are available to the general public.
The Sheriff and his staff are required to follow strict federal guidelines when performing necessary procedures for fingerprinting. During the application process, you will be asked to schedule an appointment. Please note that you will be asked to pay now to reserve your appointment.
Pricing
- Fingerprinting costs is based on the level of Background Check Service:
- BCI (State) - $40.00
- FBI (Federal) - $40.00
- BCI & FBI (State & Federal) - $70.00
- Appointments for fingerprinting will be processed between are available Monday through Friday (10:00am-2:00pm), excluding legal holidays.

Fingerprinting Requirements: must meet ALL requirements
Submitting the web check application you will certify that the personal identifiers provided on this form are accurate and that you will voluntarily and knowingly release and discharge the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Attorney General’s Office, BCI&I and their employees from all claims and liability related to this authorized criminal record review and dissemination.
You will voluntarily and knowingly authorize BCI&I to disseminate criminal arrest conviction and juvenile delinquency adjudication records to the WebCheck provider or agency you have designated to receive this information. You will voluntarily and knowingly release and discharge the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, BCI&I and their employees from all claims and liability related to this authorized criminal record review and dissemination.
